Following the free streaming of the entire series on YouTube in 2010, < CAT SHIT ONE >became the only Japanese short film nominated
in the short animation category at the 9th Annual VES Awards by US Visual Effects Society.
It will be available for download from iTunes from December 17 (Thu).

The original < CAT SHIT ONE > is a popular manga series by Motofumi Kobayashi, the master of comic war chronicles.
The shocking image of bunnies dressed up in military gears and fighting in the battlefield,
combined with meticulous depictions of battle scenes, intrigued readers and became a popular series with nine books published so far since 1998.
In 2010, the title was made into a full CG animation as < CAT SHIT ONE -THE ANIMATED SERIES- > .
Kazuya Sasahara, one of the top creators in CG industry, helmed the series as the director, while Junya Okabe,
the representative of BLAST, served as the producer.
At Tsuburaya Productions, his former company, Junya Okabe was in charge of creatives as the representative director & vice president,
where he engaged in the production of the previous film, < Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend THE MOVIE > as the producer,
scenario writer, and visual supervisor. anima inc. took charge of the CG visual production.
Unlike other existing visual contents rollout, CAT SHIT ONE was initially streamed on YouTube for free for about two months.
While the promotional strategy to stream the entire episode for free prior to the commercial release was quite unique,
the series acquired 500,000 views within two months.
DVD & Blu-ray versions of the series, which followed the free streaming, have become a major hit with 30,000 copies sold as of 2015.
It further attracted international attention as the only work from Japan nominated for the short animation section of 9th VES Award,
the most prestigious award in the Hollywood’s CG industry.

●Plot
A terrorist group take hostages at their base in a desert.
Packy & Botasky, rabbit commandos working for a private military company Carrot Military Service, identify the hostages from a far over binoculars, but one of the hostages is shot dead while trying to escape.
Judging the rest of the hostages’ lives to be in danger, the pair promptly call for reinforcements.
However, by the arrival time of the rescue force informed over the radio, all hostages would be gone.
“There are no other ways. We should do it right now!”
The unit, consisting of just two bunnies, burst into the camp packed with enemies.
